Football and Art: How does that work?

Ok, so it’s football season. In Louisiana, that’s a big deal. Coordinators of local events check on the Home game schedules before planning a date.

Never on a Friday night; that’s high school football. Never on a Saturday; that’s college football. And a Sunday or Monday night just might conflict with pro football, for us…our beloved Saints.

So where does Art fit in? Does it have to compete to get attention? Will Artists have to begin wearing shoulder pads to achieve prominence?

Of course not. They are both valid occupations. Let’s take a look at how these two professions compare.

FOOTBALL…….ART

Loners in the gym…….Loners in the studio

Team effort on the field…….Team effort in the gallery

Pain after a loss…….Same pain; it’s really sad

Cheerleaders & a band…….Gallery dealers & a string quartet

Stress of a game’s final minutes……Stress of framing that last piece!

Screaming fans…….Nodding fans

Colorful uniforms…….Black always

Helmet required…….Only if a critic is nearby

Beer & hot dogs…….Wine & cheese

Televised competitions…….Random Facebook posts?

$6-7 figure salaries…….What’s a salary?

Paid endorsements…….I’ve almost reached the poverty level! Woohoo!

Super Bowl Ring…….A really neat Put Your Heart in Art T-shirt

See? I told you that Football and Art would compare. Both noble professions that join side by side in the world…..just as long as it happens on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.
